Currently accepting two new retainer slots for Q3 2026.

Your Shopify storefront, run by one senior engineer.

Steadro is a senior fractional Shopify practice. One operator, not an agency. I take on a small number of established D2C brands and own the storefront end to end. No team to brief, no account manager between us.

Kyle Shepard, founder of Steadro

I’m Kyle Shepard, a senior Shopify Plus engineer. I’ve spent years working inside D2C brands rather than billing them from the outside, including three years full-time on Hydrow’s ecommerce team, through a headless Shopify Plus migration and the monitoring system I built from scratch. I’ve delivered enterprise-scale replatforms and kept busy storefronts fast and online.

I know what it feels like from your side of the table: briefing a third agency on the same Shopify project, paying for the senior they sold you on and then only ever hearing from a junior who’s CC’d on every email, watching a “quick” checkout change turn into a month of finger-pointing.

Steadro is the practice I wish those brands could have hired. One senior engineer, end to end. The person you talk to is the person doing the work, on every meeting, every commit, every test result. And because I automate the repetitive parts with Shopify Flow, n8n, and AI-assisted tooling, one person can carry a Plus storefront without cutting corners.

I’m at my best when the brand is past the experimental phase: real revenue, a real catalog, and enough operational complexity to break a generic theme. If that sounds like you, let’s talk.

02 · What I do

Four ways to put a senior on your store.

01

Shopify Plus development

Theme architecture, Shopify Functions, Checkout Extensibility, and the performance work a generalist agency tends to skip. I design and ship the same build, so nothing gets lost in a handoff.

Project or retainer
02

Migrations & replatforming

WordPress, ColdFusion, or custom, moved onto Shopify Plus. Phased rollouts, zero downtime, and a data model that survives contact with your real catalog.

Fixed scope
03

Fractional engineering

I become the senior Shopify engineer you can’t quite justify hiring full-time. Embedded in your team’s tools on a monthly retainer, owning the storefront end to end.

Retainer · 40 hrs/mo min
04

Operations & automation

Day-to-day ops, app-stack cleanup, and the repetitive work handled with Shopify Flow, n8n, and AI-assisted tooling. The recurring tasks other shops bill you for stop costing you anything.

Project or retainer
04 · Working together

Three ways to engage. Priced before the call gets weird.

Launch Sprint
$5k
Three to four weeks, fixed scope

For businesses already making sales but still pre-Shopify. A senior gets you launched right the first time.

  • Store build on a clean, fast theme
  • Core app stack and analytics wired up
  • Launch checklist, run with you
  • Handover docs you actually keep
When you’re selling but not yet on Shopify.
Fractional
$150/hr
Monthly retainer · 40 hrs/mo min · from $6k/mo

Your embedded senior Shopify engineer. I work inside your existing tools and own the storefront roadmap with you.

  • 40 hours/month, allocated weekly
  • Embedded in Slack and GitHub
  • Full storefront and ops ownership
  • Capped client load, so you get real attention
When you need a senior, not a project.

Prices are starting points, quoted firm before any contract is signed. Because I automate the repetitive work with Flow, n8n, and AI-assisted tooling, an hour of mine ships more than an hour an agency bills you for.

05 · Why one person

Why hire one engineer
instead of an agency.

01

The senior is the work.

When you hire Steadro, you hire me. The same person who scopes the work, writes the code, and answers your Slack. No account manager, no junior doing the real work behind a senior’s name.

02

One brain, end to end.

Theme, checkout, app stack, and operations all live in one head. No handoffs between vendors who blame each other when conversion drops, and no context lost in translation.

03

The grunt work is automated.

I lean on Shopify Flow, n8n, and AI tooling to kill the repetitive work: reporting, sync jobs, QA. It’s how one person can carry a Plus storefront without cutting corners.

04

I ship production code.

I came up writing production Shopify, not slide decks. I think in performance budgets and checkout edge cases first. If the work doesn’t move a number you can see, it isn’t worth doing.

06 · FAQ

The questions I answer every week.

01 Is Steadro an agency?
No. Steadro is one person: a senior fractional Shopify engineer. You work directly with me. There’s no team, no account manager, and no junior staffing on your project.
02 Who runs Steadro?
Steadro is Kyle Shepard, a senior Shopify Plus engineer. My background is years working inside D2C brands (including three years full-time on Hydrow’s team, through a headless Shopify Plus migration and the monitoring system I built from scratch) plus Premier Partner consulting across 20+ retainer brands.
03 What size brands do you work with?
Established D2C brands doing roughly $10M+ in annual revenue, where a fractional senior makes more sense than either a generalist agency or a full-time engineering hire. Pre-Shopify businesses already making sales are a fit for the Launch Sprint.
04 Do you do AI work?
My focus is Shopify Plus engineering, but I’m well-versed in AI automation and builds, and I fold that into client work where it earns its place. If you have something AI-heavy in mind, mention it when you reach out and we’ll see whether it’s a fit.
05 How do you engage, project or retainer?
Both. Fixed-scope projects (a migration, a Functions build, a CRO cycle) are priced firm before contract. Fractional retainers run monthly at a 40-hour-per-month minimum, embedded in your existing tools.
06 Where are you based?
Remote, working in client time zones. Most clients are in North America and Western Europe.
07 What’s your availability?
Currently accepting two new retainer slots for Q3 2026. Slots fill 4–8 weeks in advance.
08 How do you handle work outside your range?
Specialist work I don’t do solo, like large headless rebuilds, custom Shopify apps, or brand identity, gets sourced through a small network of contractors I’ve worked with for years. You see the bill, with no markup.
09 How do I get started?
Send a note through the form on this page with a bit about your store and what you’re trying to fix. I read every one myself. If it looks like a fit, I’ll reply to set up a call; if not, I’ll point you somewhere better.
